Top 10 "WTF" Moments in the ACOTAR Series
Sarah J. Mass' A Court of Thorns and Roses series has some questionable scenes, but which one is truly the hardest read?
10. NESTA… the Boat?
Sarah J. Mass knew just what to do for the poor Acheron sisters who were suffering greatly from daddy issues. In ACOWAR, Mr. Acheron comes to save the day with his boat army, with the largest ship named after his daughter, Nesta. This would have been a great gesture from the absentee father, only the boats were completely destroyed and forgotten within the first few minutes of his arrival, making the boats another Acheron daddy fail.
9. Rhysand Waiting in a Tree
When the love of your life is in immediate danger what is your next move? Well, for Rhysand in ACOMAF, it was to just stand in a tree. While waiting for Feyre to defeat the Weaver, one of the most dangerous creatures in Prythian, Rhysand took some time to relax on the branches of some nearby trees. WTF Rhysand.
8. Feyre’s Beast Portrait
Although Rhysand and Feyre have some cute couple moments, Feyre’s Solstice gift in ACOMAS wasn’t exactly romantic. In the previous book ACOWAR, Feyre looks into the Ouroboros mirror, which reveals the image of the ugly beast living inside her. So what does Feyre do next? She paints the hideous beast and gifts it to the love of her life. Your welcome?
7. Lint EVERYWHERE!
After reading the whole ACOTAR series, there is no way we can doubt that Sarah J. Mass has a brilliant mind. However, she could have toned down the amount of times Rhysand picked lint off his shirt. I swear if I could read while drunk, I would make it a drinking game. Take a shot every time lint is mentioned in ACOMAF alone.
6. Azriel carries Lucien
Everyone say thank you to ACOWAR for the most awkward interaction between two males. After running away from the Spring Court, Feyre and Lucien need a ride home to the Night Court. Lucky for them, Cassian and Azriel came wings ready to help. Cassian took Feyre home. Unlucky for Lucien, this left it up to Azriel to fly home while carrying him.
5. Feyre Paints the Cabin… the One She Doesn’t Own
I’m pretty sure my face was stuck in a permanent cringe during chapter 52 of ACOMAF. When Feyre finds out Rhysand has been keeping a secret, she has Morrigan take her away to a cabin. Feyre finds some old paint and begins painting all over the cabin’s walls. My therapist would probably agree that painting is a beneficial way to let off some steam; however, Feyre did not own this cabin or ask anyone if she could paint the walls.
4. There is a Sauna?!?
ACOTAR is set in the most magical world full of fairies, powers, and a sauna. For a world set where plumbing isn’t even a thing for the mortals, it is rather strange for a sauna to exist at all. I won’t even mention why Rhysand gets himself kicked out of it in ACOFAS…
3. Nesta’s Hands WHERE?
In ACOSF, Nesta is learning to overcome her PTSD surrounding events that happened throughout her childhood up to the present. She becomes the leader of the newest group of female warriors, then all of a sudden Cassian is commanding Nesta to put her hands on the headboard. It was just a little jarring to go from a women empowerment book to reading the next 50 Shades of Grey.
2. OMG Elain is My Mate!
Lucien gets a gold star for having the worst timing ever in ACOMAF. Feyre and her squad are squaring up with the evil king of Hybern. Things really ramp up when Feyre’s sisters, Nesta and Elain, are forced into the cauldron. Lucien is a witness to all of this and then it hits him, Elain is his mate. Then he decides to scream that fact out for everyone to hear, including the soaking wet and traumatized Elain.
1. Feyre and Rhysand Over the City
Rhysand and Feyre are admittedly made for each other. Unfortunately, they have no chill when it comes to PDA, including some badly timed sessions during the war. Nothing tops the most public of displays when they decide to ‘bond’ while flying over the City of Dreams. Let’s just hope the dreamers were able to get some forgetting potions.
Caylyn! This is so funny. I love this series so much but you said literally everything we were all thinking! I'd love to hear more of your book opinions. Love it!
